Atmosphere was originally named Urban Atmosphere. The group's was first circulated to a mass audience on twin cities mix tapes called Headshots. When their first full release entitled Overcast came out, Atmosphere consisted of Slug, Spawn, and Ant (the album also features Beyond and Stress).
After the release the group slimmed down it's size to just Slug rhyming and Ant creating beats. The next release, Sad Clown Bad Dub was not a full release; it was only released for sale at shows to "help them eat better while on the road". This disc began a series of road releases of the same title: II (which was similar to the original), III (a live album with the Heiruspecs Band), IV (a tour dvd), and VII (a dual disc with Mr. Dibbs). Their follow up to Overcast! was two vinyls called Lucy and Ford, which were combined to create the Lucy Ford CD. This release greatly increased the fan base and the size of shows grew as well. The next release God Loves Ugly came out much edgier and drew even more interest including large magazines such as Rolling Stone.
Atmosphere's next album Seven's Travels was released on Epitaph records to allow wider distribution to their growing fan base. Atmosphere's latest album is You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having.
